The film is a story that dialogues with her childhood in Valparaíso and her love for cinema. According to the announcement made yesterday, it will be screened for the first time on the big screen in July, as part of the 60th edition of the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world, which will take place between July 3 and 11. "I am very happy that my film has been selected for Karlovy Vary. It is one of the most important film festivals in Eastern Europe", says the director to Culto. Her world premiere marks the end of a seven-year project. An initiative that began with a script written by the late Omar Saavedra Santis and that culminated just a few weeks ago in the editing room with Galut Alarcón. Throughout this process, she has been accompanied by Poetastros and by the producer and actress Chamila Rodríguez, with whom she had already collaborated in the Ruiz-Sarmiento trilogy, the three incomplete films of Raúl Ruiz – her husband – that she and the company's team recovered and completed. "I worked with an incredible team and I am very grateful to all of them", she highlights. The film was shot in Valparaíso and in the Valparaíso region, and features local and national actors. "It's a story that talks about childhood and youth, and that also talks about the relationship between childhood and adulthood", explains Sarmiento. "It's a film that seeks to explore the connection between childhood and adulthood, and that also seeks to explore the relationship between childhood and society", she adds. The film will be released in July at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, and will later be screened at other film festivals and cinemas around the world. "It's a film that seeks to reach a wide and diverse audience, and that also seeks to explore the relationship between childhood and society", she highlights.
